4/1000土壌イニシアチブのシンポジウム

フランス政府が熱心に進めている4/1000イニシアチブ。土壌は膨大な炭素を貯める能力があり、それを活用することで地球温暖化効果対策を進めようという内容。パリで2015年12月に開いた国連気候変動枠組条約の会合で提案され、現時点で100の国や団体が参加している。1年前にフランスの農業大臣に書面でインタビューしたときには70だったが、確実に増え、さらに「理念」から「実践」に軸足を移し始めたと農業省の高官は説明している（上は12月18日付日本農業新聞記事）。トランプ政権の発足で温暖化効果対策やパリ協定の未来は不透明だが、このイニシアチブには注目している。

　1月27日には東京農業大学でフォーラムが開かれる予定だ。参加は無料で、登録は必要ない。下は大使館からの情報。

国連気候変動枠組条約のパリ協定が締結された。パリ協定は京都議定書に代わる、2020年以降の温室効果ガス排出削減等のための新たな国際枠組みである。ホスト国のフランスは第21回締約国会議で"4 per 1000"イニシアチブを表明した。このイニシアチブは「農業や農業土壌が食糧安全保障と気候変動に重要な役割がある」としており、土壌の炭素貯留を促進させることによって、温暖化緩和と持続的農業生産の両方を達成することを目指している。本フォーラムでは「地球温暖化問題と土壌の炭素貯留を促進させる科学」を解説し、さらに、世界におけるアグロエコロジーの事例を紹介する。
