NZ Pinklady apples are arriving

A trade mark apples, "Pinklady" from New Zealand is sold at a local supermarket in Chiba City. It is crisp and sweet and sour exactly as I anticipated. The price was 299 Yen for 4 fruits, almost same the level of domestic apple varieties.

This is the season when an old crop fruits harvested last year is disappearing while a new domestic crop is increasing. I believe it was four or five years ago that apples from the Southern hemisphere penetrated in the Japanese market where domestic apples dominated for long time.

I am a big domestic apple fan, but telling the truth, the taste of the fruits in this season from NZ is much much better than that of domestic ones.
